trim tab question

Post by rspecops »

I have the older boat leveler hydraulic system. One of the trim tabs will not raise on its own. It will go down on its own, no problem. It will come up with just a slight nudge from someone outside pushing up while I operate the switch. The other tab raises fine on its own. This tab that does not come up on its own will not raise if you try and push it up while not operating the switch. I think that this tells me there is nothing major wrong. I also think that this tab will raise once the boat is moving in the water because there will be some upward pressure on it. I would just like to see it in 100% proper working order. Any ideas of what might be a quick fix??

Sounds like it make be a bad trim cylinder . To find out swap the hoses side to side if the problem stays on the same side then most likely its the Cylinder . look at the hose and make sure its not pinched while your there .
