I only carry on rare occasions anymore. When I was younger I did more often. Now hardly at all. I live in the sticks though. Not a lot of human based threats around here. Animals however, are a different story, and the naive out-of-towners seem to always do stupid things to bring the bears around maurauding by mid summer.

I keep a Marlin 336 chambered for .35 Rem in the Stbd. V-berth locker during hunting season, but other than that its kinda pointless to carry on my home waters.

If they are crawling up over the transom on you it probably means you need to locate to a marina a bit further away from Cuba.
