Reading of fuel guage with key in off position with tanks empty apperantly. while there just bellow the rpm guage there is what looks like original push pull Trojan button that not sure what its for . Maybe someone knows before I start tracing the line .

Thanks for the offer CP, but I don't think my setup is OEM. There's been some changes along the way which is making life interesting. Most gauges should have the needle all the way to the left with the ignition off (the Ammeter should be in the center). Looking at the picture you posted, I'm fairly confident that your fuel gauge and oil pressure gauge are not working. Replacing the oil pressure gauge and sender is fairly easy. The oil pressure sender is located next to the distributer and screws into a 1/8 NPT fitting. The fuel sender can be a little more difficult to replace. Is the top of your fuel tank clear of obstructions? If so, replacing the fuel sender and the gauge is probably your best bet. In my boat, the fuel tanks are located under the deck so to replace the senders I would need to remove the tanks. I'm trying to work with the fuel senders I have so I don't have to remove the tanks.
Hopefully your temperature sender is working. Mine wasn't, and I wasn't able to find a replacement sender that would fit the space. I ended up buying a part from Jaguars That Run in CA to put a temperature sender in the hose connecting the engine to the thermostat housing. It works, but I would have prefered to use the same location as the original temperature sender.

In any event, you should be able to find a VDO that will work with whatever sender type you have.

Anyone know if there is fuel pump in tank on f25 74 or just on engine? I am thinking replacing it anyways and was trying to locate fuel pump .. Think its kind of hidden in between the fan belt and block . Hard to tell as not much room in there.
TheDogHouse .. I think my sensor is on top of tank beside one of the shut of valves .. Going to boat now so will take pic and post in few hours . Another quick start earlier todayand sounds like good compression just no fuel going to carb to keep it going . So will take carb off take it in to get it checked out and adjusted and replace filters first and perhaps fuel pump see if that clears it up.. Also talked to Bob from beacon marine about some parts for future work wants I get it going Thank you for help everyone

No fuel pump in tank. If you pump the accelerator pump on the carb and you don't see fuel squirting into the carb, fuel isn't getting to the carb so it can't do its job. I would not take the carb in just yet. The fuel pump is typically on the left side of the block close to the front below the exhaust maniflod if you are looking at the flywheel from the front of the engine.

There is only a fuel pump on the engine. The fuel pump is the circular part on the bottom right of the front of the engine (looking from the back of the engine). Since your engine is not a V drive, it will definitely be more difficult to get to. Have you tried hooking up a portable gas tank to the fuel pump yet? If the engine runs with the portable fuel tank your fuel pump and carb are working fine.

Thank you DogHouse and BigD .. I meneged to losen up shut off valves tonight so that made me happy ..Started up engine again and started fine .. but ran out of light to replace filters to see if that is cause .. will do that in morning . Then will hook up portable tank or try to . I have to buy one with appropriate hook up. This is pic of the fuel sender area and shut off valve on top of tank .. I chatted with Bob tonight as well and he gave me few hints but still nice to see how others do it

Congratulations! It's the small victories that keep us going sometimes. Since the top of your fuel tank is open, it shouldn't be too difficult to replace the fuel sender if you have to. You have much better access to the top of your fuel tank than I do. Keep at it and you'll get everything sorted out.gordd wrote:Thank you DogHouse and BigD .. You should install an anti-siphone valve in the fuel tank pick-up for safety. It helps prevent the siphoning action and filling your bilge with fuel should a fuel line fail.

Took out siphon valve today .. blew compressed air thru it to clean it .. cleaned line from fuel filter/seprator to tank , even blew air into tank and siphoned gas out of it to see how clean and looks clean , inline filter cleaned . Turned key over few times and still no gas to carb . There was bit of dirt at bottom of seperator filter cannister and still same amount of fuel in it . Now not sure if fuel pump grr.

Does anyone know if gas tank exauhst, can be unscrewd from tank ? I am thinking of taking tank out and having at cleaned on inside same time check what shape its in if it perhaps needs replacing .

Another thing that might be preventing fuel from getting to the carb is if the fuel tank vent line is blocked. You can try starting the engine with the fuel cap off to see if that allows fuel to get to the carb.
