Carpet replacement ideas
Anyone here got any good carpet replacement ideas I've got a 78 clean machine .I can't find anyone to bind the edges and after about a year any carpet replacement frays out and looks like hell .I thought about the carpet squares or laminates but the damp air would probably cause the laminates to warp .Any ideas ???Thanks Jim

I replaced my carpet in my f32 about 4yrs ago--bought the rug at home depot and hired a rug person to cut it and bind the edges--the small hatches in the middle of salon had rug nailed down and had a rubber edging- same color as rug--so you can lift hatches easily---once done like this, you can replace rug without having it measured again and again
Here's a product similar to laminate in looks, but is rubber based. I've used it in a bathroom and it works great around moisure. I wanted to use it in the boat, but the wife's got her mind set on teak and holly.

I had the carpet in my salon, F32, redone last year. I picked out the carpet, had a professional install it.
On my hatches, he trimmed out the opening with 1/2" hardwood which sat "down" on the outer hatch frames and by doing this, he was able to wrap my carpet edges around the hatches so there was no need for binding or frayed edges. Very neat install. the leftover carpet I am going to cut to my dimension and take to a local carpet shop and have them bind the edges, this will alow me to have a throw carpet which I can lay over the slaon carpet, which matches.
In the galley and galley-way to the v-birth, I laid Pergo flooring...the carpet was a mess. I also removed the carpet from the 3 steps down and sanded the wood steps.

Old carpet was worn out and so 4 years ago we picked out the best carpet we could find and had a professional install it. The new floor Looked great but then we got the bad news that there were pin hole leaks in one gas tank. Ripped up the floors (saved the carpet) and replaced both gas tanks. Had the same carpet re-installed by the same professional. He did a great job of re-installing what had then become used carpeting and it worked out fine. There is always someone who will bind the carpet, but it will cost a fee.
