raw water cooling help Chrysler 440 manifold

Post by dfg4240 »

Lucky me-I have both manifolds leaking-starboard engine port side has a leak on top and the starboard side manifold underneath.
anyone replace these?
can I disconnect starting at the elbow adapter which connects right at the manifold---part #3619673 or should I start further towards the outlet?
anything I should look for. Looks like it will take a good effort to break them free.
Also-does anyone know where I can get the manifold-3619770-I see some online but all different prices.
thanks

I found the information and ordered the manifolds from Barrett marine.

If you have the elbows with the round mounting bases that allow you to adjust the direction the output faces and they are not leaking, do not open up a can of worms if you don't have to by removing the elbow from the riser. Keep those two fastened together and just unbolt the riser from the manifold.

I was going to disconnect right at the adapter but did not bring my box wrenches with me.
As far as the manifold itself-I sprayed with Liquid wrench and waited a few hrs and all the bolts broke loose like butter.
I just could not get the adapter free because I had the box wrench set at home.Looks like 9/16.
anyway I wanted to make some support for the elbows so when I pull the manifold off everything does not drop to the floor.
The main thing is I can't get to the boat all the time when I want to.
Barrett marine ordered the manifolds for me but they only sent one.I have to wait for the other one.
Those hoses are hard to get off - Hey maybe I should squirt some WD40 in there-just joking!
