you can also get explosion proof lights at Graingers.

I added one in each corner of the engine room and am damn glad I did.

Can't remember the last time I needed a flashlight down there, as they really do the trick.

I just put in two led lites down there. I was told by the manager at west marine that since leds don't have a burning filament they were ok to use in the bilge. although I'd feel better having that in writing !

What a crappy day! my surveyor spoke to my insurance company and they told him they would not accept a survey without the engines in the boat. I spent the entire day trying to figure out how to pay the loan off of the boat since they would call it due without insurance. I ended up calling a friend of mine who is an insurance agent at 3 and by 4 she found me insurance that will cover me until the renovation is complete, its $200 more but they don't even require a survey as long as the boat is on land! :D
So I head down the shop around 5pm and by six the parking lot was flooded 2feet deep and rising from this storm! :( I just cant catch a break! I told my wife that I may have to sleep on the boat because the water was too high to drive out through. I removed the shafts (no packing yet) and taped up the holes, closed all the thru hulls, strapped the boat to the dollies in case she floats and tied her off to the building steel. (at least the cleats were on this time!) then I did my best to get all the important crap off the floor. It typically takes me two days to get everything up and ready for a flood. The rain slowed down around 830 and the water went back down to about 2 ft in the front lot. I was able to drive out. they are calling for it to get worse again so my fingers are crossed!!!

Todd, I just spent last 45 minutes catching up on this post. I had red the beginning and the later but missed all the stuff in the middle. you are doing an incredible amount of high quality work here and you should be proud of all you have done,.\\.

If I flooded out the bottom paint would have got dirty! Gotta wait until its ready to go in the water before that!
I ended out making ok with the weather. the water never made it in my shop thank goodness!
I got the 1-1/2 inch cockpit scuppers in today. The last three bow cleats, the last three cockpit lites in and the vhf wired.
Sorry to take up 45 min of your day LOL! Thanks for your support and complements. I appreciate it!

Finally got back to working on the boat again! I fabricated another 4 new cockpit deck supports as well as new cross brace bars (old ones were ugly). I had to create a raised mount on the outside stringers since I lowered the height of the stringers to allow for clearance for the gas tanks.
I started filling in all the holes in the interior that were hidden by the previous owners vinyl job, Old unused speaker holes, radio hole and thermostat hole (not sure what size the new ac will have so I figured it will be easier to cut a new hole).
Painted the metal trim around the stern rope lockers and installed new handles .

West Marine has LED lights that are certified for engine room use per the catalog. I suspect the only difference is the manufacturer went through the certification process and they are the same as "uncertified" ones. But I did feel better having it in writing.

Special Thanks to BlueBelle and his11 meter renovation pictures for giving me some great ideas and getting me motivated! I started playing around with the interior vinyl. So far its going well, I still need to install the trim pieces and edging. I think I'm going to make teak doors similar to what bluebelle has in his galley and put them in the aft cabin. I was thinking of using wallpaper on the curved wall but after three hours of scraping and using adhesive remover I gave up and went with foam backed vinyl instead.
I'm thinking of using the fabric in the picture to make a 2 inch trim piece to hide the wall to headliner joint? what do you guys think?

I started the barrier coat on the bottom today. Had to sand the entire bottom with 80 grit, wiped it down, taped off the waterline and got two coats on today. I'm planning on doing a total of 6 coats, alternating between grey and white, then two coats of micron extra bottom paint.
