Engine Warning Buzzer

I have just launched my 1974 Trojan F32 in the water for our short boating season and when starting the engines I noticed that after a few minutes the Starboard engine warning light and buzzer went off with the engine running. Naturally when I shut it down the buzzer stoped sounding, but on restart it came back on again.
Any ideas to the cause, and what does actually in normal circumstance triggers the alarm?

Low oil pressure or high temp will turn it on .

Check your gages. I If the buzzer sound after a few minutes, chances are you're overheating. Shutting the engine down then starting up again a couple of minutes later is likely to make the buzzer come on again right away since that's not enough time for the engine to cool. Unless you've developed an oil pressure issue or a faulty pressure or temp switch, it's likely you have a cooling problem. When was the last time the impellers were replaced? do you have raw water or fresh water cooling?

One more thing to add---- make sure thermostat is not stuck closed--- happens more than you think--- just take it out and hold under hot water and watch---Mike
