New to Trojan boats and forun
Hi, I am new to Trojan boats and to this forum. I am so new, I do not even have a Trojan boat. However, I have a contract to purchase a 36' Tri Cabin. Hope to close soon. I have already seen where there are problems with leaking cabin windows and being careful with the depth of the water given the props are unprotected. Ken Charleston, SC

Indeed, welcome. What year are you looking at? I have an '85 tri, and would be happy to help with any specific questions. There's a guy here named Aaron Bocknek who has an '81ish tri who is a veritable encyclopedia, but if you've lurked at all you already know that. Feel free to post any questions that you have. There are no stupid questions.
And a hearty "welcome back" to you Allen Sr.!

I needed a less expensive hobby, so I bought a boat!

Welcome Kenflyer... good boat choice. If you're like me you will enjoy the slow relaxing cruising on the tri-cabin and the overnight stays. Ours is a 1977. Since most of these boats are older, you will also find that they require ongoing tinkering and fixing... like a big kid's "busy box". As for leaky windows, that would be my experience also. In the 8 years of ownership we have had ongoing off and on leaks at the rear door to the aft stateroom, the salon windows, some stanchions, the oblong porthole type windows in the aft stateroom, and the most frustrating of all to me is the helm windshield. The rubber seals around the pieces of glass in windshield are original, old, dried out, hard, and let water in here and there. I have never discovered what to replace these rubbers with so we've tried a variety of sealers none of which have solved the problem.

hello and welcome aboard.... yipes, i feel like i'm at work!! anyway, welcome to the forum and to the world of the tri cabin. (thanks for the plug perry!!) i grew up with the trojan brand, and, more specifically, the tri cabin. so, ask away. i have a 1982 model. what year is yours, and, once you take ownership, we would love to see some pics. as for those bloody windshield leaks..... ahhhhh the ever present ''SALIERI TO MY MOZART'' a constant battle that not only do i try to keep up with, but so did my dad. he eventually had a windscreen cover made. that, and only that, solved the problem. not one glass company in the baltimore area will even remotely tackle it. and i've tried.
and yes, a heart felt welcome back to the forum to you allen!!!! a blessing on your head mazel tov mazel tov.
i'll do my best to check back here in the next few days. i'm flying nothing but transcons for the next 4 days starting thursday morning at O'DARK AWFUL.
