Fuel Water seperator

Hi guys...heading down to my f-36 tomorrow to fire over the 440's for the first time. What fuel water seperator/filter should I get? Does anyone know the part number? The boat is in a different state so I cant just go look on the existing ones! I just want to show up prepared...the motors havent run in 3 years so I figured this would be a good idea...

Sorry I don't know what they came with , but there is a good chance they have been changed/upgraded to something else . best to see what you have

As Prowlersfish said, there's a good chance the original fuel filter/separator was changed by a PO given the age of these boats. Having said that, my boat has the original fuel filter/separator. You can see it in the bottom left of the picture.



If this is what you have, the filter cartridge is a Fram CCS 1136. You can find them on Amazon.com among other places.

well they were the originals...cannister style all gummed up and rusty...I'm going to replace them with the sierra screw on filter type. What size should I use?

If you're going with Sierra, get the one that is equivelent to the Merc filter. That way, in a pinch, it's more likely that you'll find at least the Merc equivelent at most marinas in case you get stuck. You guys have a lot of E-10 down there. If you think you're going to have to deal with water in the fuel all the time, you may want to consider a Racor that allows you to empty the water out of it without removing the filter all the time.

Thanks...i was told the racor is illegal in this application. Also...I like the idea of hetting the Mercruiser equivalent. Thats my question, though. What is the flow rate I should be looking for?
I'm putting 750 cfm Carbs on...any suggestions please...

Only racors with a clear bowl are illegal with a inboard gas engine .The metal bowl is OK

Like Paul said, the metal bowl Racors is what you'd need. You don't have to worry about flow rate on the Mercs, they're used on 454s and 496s
