Waiting on delivery from Tn and I have some questions about the boat.

1. There is no windless. Did Trojan prewire the boat for one?

2. Are the engines fed off the saddle tanks port-port and
starboard-starboard?

Probably more to come after delivery.

Thanks

Welcome to the site!! I can't say whether your boat will be prewired for a windlass....mine is a 1980 F-36 and came with it. The tanks probably have a fuel valve manifold arrangement that allows you to burn fuel from right to right, left to left, both from right, both from left, etc. Good luck with your new boat. It's a shame our Washington politicians have put us in such a financial mess that most of us can't afford to run our boats.

Danny, thanks for the reply.

I'm sure there are some 10M owners out there that could help with my questions.

The boat was delivered Tuesday a week ago. My wife and I removed all cushions and bedding to clean them. All are in perfect shape, but the wife wants to make sure they're clean. Then she cleaned and sanitized the entire interior.

The boat has been in fresh water and under cover all it's life. The gelcoat is unbelieveable.

I have seen some 10M with the windlass on the pulpit and some on the locker hatch. Seems to me the on the pulpit is to close and on the hatch is too flemsy.

Guess I'll figure it out.

My 1983 10 meter express cruiser was not pre-wired for a windlass.

The bow pulpit is teak covered and be careful, it's balsa cored, so when you go for it, make sure there's no chance for water intrusion after the install is complete.

I went with a Lewmar FF600 or FF900, I'm pretty sure it's the 600.

The FF indicates that it is a free falling windlass, a really nice feature.

The windlass is mounted on a piece of starboard which was used to get the angles right. The windlass dumps the combination rode/chain directly into the anchor locker and is NOT mounted on the locker, which is a bad choice and a violation of the design.

Mounting it on the locker will necessitate a trip to the fwd berth anytime there is a tangle or the inevitable twisted line situation.

The only negative with the install is that with 30' of chain, the chain and rode tend to pile up at the front of the locker, and he mound can reach the bottom of the windlass if paid out a lot of line and you don't even it out by hand during retrevial.

Be smart, use wire of adequate guage given the length of the run and anticipated voltage drop. Make sure you set it up with a good quality circuit breaker as well.

I can't help you with the saddle tank issue as mine is not the midcabin model and I have a single 242 gallon tank.

Congrats on your purchase of a well designed and engineered vessel whose attributes are ofter overlooked as the bloom has been gone off that flower for a number of years, especially with an orphaned brand.

There is however a tremendous amount of information and support on this web site.

Good luck with your new International and welcome to the forum. Perhaps you'll post some pictures.

I believe my 10 meter had a windlass from original delivery so I can't help you with the wiring. I don't have an anchor locker accessible from the top so I have a feeling that the factory install was where you have an anchor locker door.

I do have to go to the fwd berth to clear a snag.
