Haul out pics

Post by Diverted Income »

Few pics from Friday's haul out. Removed cockpit hatch to repair rotten core. Will be doing some clean up in that area too now. Noticed I lost an Anode on the STBD rudder this summer too!

I was very happy to the condition of the bottom and running gear as it was my first opportunity to do so.

when ENTERPRISE had her short haul on 18th sept, the yard was impressed that there were only 2 small (8" round) barnacle clusters. the running gear was diver scrapped in july and phil and i have run her once, sometimes twice a week. the bottom was in good condition although i'd love to do a soda blast and barrier coat in the spring. we replaced the zincs and then were launched after we ate lunch at the yard cafe. it was a fun day too....my partner phil actually did some work on the boat (to the astonishment of my mechanic john who swung by to answer a rudder question of mine. along for the zinc team/bottom scrape/paint touch up party were my friends ed (mainship 390) and jerry (1981 chris craft 333/bayliner 28)

when you saw her out of the water, were you not amazed at how big these trojans look when on the hard? i loved how my 32 and my tri look out of the water. massive. i have a question about your particular haul out. what was the flat bed for? does she go to a different area or are you trucking her to your house? do you store indoors for the winter? i'd love to be able to have little "E" under a heated roof for just one winter to get some projects done on the outside.

Trailer was used to get her into a building for the winter. Still had to knock the bridge enclosure down to get he in. Tall boat for sure! Speaking of anodes, what is the correct thing to use on fresh water (Mississippi River) Zinc or Magnesium? Thanks!

i get mine from here, http://www.usazincs.com. i tried navalloy this time but the shaft models were a ^^%!!! to get on. they do NOT go on with ease that's for sure. tab through the selection, and they tell you what is good for what waters. i think i will use the standard zinc next year given the wrestle factor for the shafts. they do look good though.

Do not use zinc in fresh water. Magnesium or aluminum anodes should be used in fresh water. Magnesium will protect better but wear faster. How clean is the water? If the water is very clean, magnesium would be o. k. to use. If the water isn't that clean, then I would use aluminum. I boat in the Delaware River and use aluminum anodes.

Noticed the two A/C units between then fuel tanks... I thought most A/C units were not 'ignition protected' ?

Hmm. Didn't know that. Where else would they go on an F-32?

Mine is under the forward dinette seat. I think some have them in the area under the console (with the hot water tank).

There are ignition protected two piece "marine" units designed for that installation but you should confirm what you have.
