Mid cabin windshield rubber trim

Post by BobCT »

Has anyone replaced this? Mine is looking pretty tired. I have a sample from Taylor but it's fairly expensive for what it is, I think I figured almost $300 to replace all of it. I'll look around some more and see if I can find another source.

My big question, how do you get the corner miter cuts (at the right length) on the first shot? I remember the first time I did crown moulding and there was a pile of lumber next to the saw by the time I was finished. It seems to me you would need some sort of a jig to do it right.

Bob,

if you are referring to the inserts that fit the screw hole covers, I got mine from John Leed at Marinetech.

I got that too :)

No, I mean the rubber trim that goes around all of the glass. I don't recall seeing a post where anyone has replaced it before but maybe I missed it. Is yours original?

I think Taylor wants $2.00 a foot or something in that range. Seems to me it should be around .40 a foot and then I would willing to figure it out on the fly :)

mine is not in the best shape.

However, for me, that project would grow into adding

1. the opening window at the base of the center windshield

2. I would take the opportunity to take all the frames and have them powdercoated
