I am going to the boat show Wednesday morning should be good. I also am not for or against Reach Harbour just not sure they can handle to many transients, but who knows how many empty slips they have this year plus transients, but empty can be rented at anytime so we need to just look at transient slips, sounds like I will have the smallest boat add a few F32 a tricabin or 2 maybe my friends 34 mainship we will need some room or should i say some water space

Well, for me it's usually a two day, hard run down through the Rideau Lakes to reach Kingston, (or conversely it's 3 leisurely days) - then it would be another two full days cruising west along Lake Ontario to Trenton (by the inside route with an overnight in Picton.) Thereafter it's apparently a two day climb up the Trent. I'll have to check the number of locks between Trenton and Youngs Point.
I think I would like to plan on staying over an extra day and night in Kingston. That means I guess, that I would need to set aside 7 or 8 days to get my TriCabin up there. Wow - what a great holiday for Heather and I.

Kingston to Trenton is only about 50 miles. The biggest challenge is the gap between Amherst and Wolfe Island, or the gap between Quinte's Isle and Amherst... with a strong south or southwest breeze you get the crap beat out of you when you cross those gaps. Otherwise, the rest of the route is protected water (though with the wrong winds Long Reach or Bay of Quinte can get a bit snotty). Kingston to Trenton is easily doable within about 4-5 hours, so a day should do it.
I have that time frame booked off with no real firm plans in place as yet. And a run on the Trent is always enjoyable.
As far as stern out, three reasons.
We were on the "other" side of the pier for 13 years so when the opportunity came to move we did. Now we stern out across the bay towards the town.
The bow faces the west so when you have had enough sun the rear cockpit is in the shade.
And everyone who walks by doesn't get to see what I'm up to.
Actually more like eighty miles. Picton is forty. So for me, cruising at my normal snails pace of 1800 rpm's - it'll take two days total (but still be fun)
Captain M, I know what you mean about being immersed in Lake Ontario's grumpy side. In my case, it's mostly been on the way back to Kingston from the Thousand Islands. On a bad day the lake can make that stretch where the St Lawrence begins into a real roller coaster. In a tricabin, that's when you find out that the seals in the front portholes have dried out.
I also made the mistake three years ago of hanging around too long over at the beach at Big Sandy (toward Sackets Harbour from Kingston) then got stuck tacking home to Kingston in fairly hefty rollers. Those members here who boat regularly in the ocean will no doubt be chuckling.
I have roundtrip booked the train for this coming Thursday morning in order to check out the boat show in Toronto. I also notice that the Senators are now ahead of the Leafs in the standings - so I'll leave my Sens cap at home.
Not to sure what your sources are but the Senators are still one point behind, apologie accepted lol and yes it is about 70 to 80 miles by water from Kingston to Trenton, along the 401 it is about 102 km equals 60 miles and thats on a straight line water route is longer

There is a TV show called "island Hunters" on HGTV that my wife and I have started to watch, they have filmed a few episodes in the Georgian Bay area and wow, do you guys up in Canada have some beautiful places to boat. We are thinking of taking a trip up just to see this part of the world...
While I enjoy the year round boating of SO CAL, I am very envious of your boating grounds
You HAVE to see the Georgian Bay area, especially north of Britt! It's like going back in time!
We "traded" the cottage life on the French River, for the boating life...the thing we miss the most, is the solitude. We could go days, in a century old log cabin on then island, and not see a soul. Occasionally a canoe or kayak would go by and we would have to put our clothes back on until they passed. Some of those canoes travel pretty quiet Well worth the trip. Go in at hartley Bay, rent a boat and explore a part of our country that has not changed in centuries. Real wilderness still exists and it's only a 4 hour drive from Toronto International. I would love to bring our boat up here, but I'd never consider taking it on the French River. You can get pretty close, but the rapids and the prop-eating rocks prevent anything but those under 16 feet and 1.5' of draft.

There is a company called Canadian Yacht Charters (http://www.cycnorth.com/), and there may be others, where you can charter a boat for a week or two to explore Georgian Bay and the North Channel. Not cheap, but WAY cheaper than navigating or trucking your boat up from CA!!!! Or you pay me enough and I will take mine up there and rent it to you for a bit!
The Thousand Islands, the Trent-Severn Waterway, and the Rideau Canal are also incredibly awesome destinations up here and there are rental or charter companies you can deal with in those areas too.
In addition to this plan we may want to also consider as an and/or situation actually getting together in Georgian Bay, specifically the Massassauga Park which has many good anchorages for several boats. And on a busy long weekend just Canadian boaters...
I can't make the trip down the Trent but would be happy to help plan something in Georgian Bay. If Georgian Bay is a destination being considered I would like to offer my facility, http://www.baymoorings.com as a possible location for this event. As a long term member of this site and a Trojan owner myself I would be happy to host this event at our full service marina (360 slips). We have ample dockage for this event and can accommodate many Trojans owners. Our facility has a great swimming pool, the cleanest shower/washrooms available, a boater lounge, gazebo, BBQ'S, all the necessities to host a great event. "Mikeandanne" enjoy Baymoorings as their home port, one of 8 Trojans on site. We are located in southern Georgian Bay in Penetanguishene Bay. Let me know if there is an interest. Jimbo36.
We hold 9 events throughout the season at our marina. Some include participation with our other marinas here in S. Georgian Bay. Bay Port yachting Centre, Wye Heritage and Beacon Bay. I will post possible dates that do not conflict with our other events for discussion. Jim.
