Re: Interesting International Refit for sale
Looks nice , But when some makes major changes and spends $$ on a boat and then puts it on the market shortly afterwords (6-7 months) It make you wonder how well it worked out .
I do find some statements a stretch at best . like the one below .
"The boat was just repowered with Mercruiser 383 Stroker engines, which still have approximately 2 years left on a 3 year warranty through Mercruiser. They are a direct replacement made by Mercruiser for the 454’s that came out. The boat is now lighter, and has experienced a 90-95% increase in fuel economy! "

Re: Interesting International Refit for sale
I had no knowledge of these "stroker" engines until now.
Apparently they rebuild a base GM 6.2 block bored and stroked with a forged crank and roller cam.
Problem is, as I understand it this remains a carbureted engine.
Perhaps they simply missed a decimal point 9.0 - 9.5% increase in fuel economy !
And the replaced interior fabric & carpet - not in keeping with my own décor tastes.
But that's OK - - - to each his own !

Re: Interesting International Refit for sale
there is now a specific question, and an answer posted.
Here's a cut and paste directly from E-Bay....

Questions from other members : 1983 10 Meter 33' Trojan
Question & Answer Answered On
Q: 1) how long ago was the most recent survey, and is it available? 2) you state a 90 - 95% increase in fuel economy. What is this vessels cruise speed and what is the fuel burn (both engines) at that speed from the Floscan? Thank you ! Jan-16-14
A: Hello, Yes the survey was done and is available, I believe it is about 6 months old. The initial seatrial gave a best speed/fuel burn of 18.5 knots gps with a total burn of 24/hr at 3000 rpm. At 3250 it was 20 knots with a total burn of 27/hr. The boat was completely full of fuel, but light on some gear because it was fresh out of the yard, it also had brand new bottom paint. We repropped for top rpm slightly and the numbers got a little better, but I didn't record them. It seemed it was slightly slower but right on the cusp of a statute mile to the gallon. Prior to this, the boat was barely 1/2 mile to the gallon at similar speeds with the 454 crusaders. Thanks Skyler

I was able to go from .69 NMPG at cruise to .81 NMPG with the 454's in my express with correct tuning, correct carb jetting doing a propscan, removing the exhaust diverters, increasing the height of the flame arrestors ( breathers) and a modification to the trim tabs as suggested by Tabman.
.81 NMPG translates to .94 NMPG statute miles per gallon at a 15 knot (17.3 mph) cruise.
Not too shabby for a boat that size and beam.
These boats have an undeserved reputation for being gas hogs with the 454's.
With proper tuning, tabs and props, they can be extremely competitive with any other similarly sized boat.
For now, I am halfway through the installation of the floscans for the Yanmar diesels and will be posting the results and photos as soon as they are available.

Re: Interesting International Refit for sale
The 383 engine (6.2 ) that merc uses is a 5.7 (350 CID ) with stroker crank . It is not the same 6.2 engine GM now makes and many are using .
I don't believe merc ever said it was a replacement for the 454 /7.4 engine . Also flo scans need to be calibrated before the give you true readings

You are correct Paul. They didn't and it isn't...The 8.2 was the replacement.

A lot of time and money was invested in this thing. A lot of weight for for smallblocks to get moving but I wouldn't be too concerned. Will be a good buy for someone
