Re: Buying my first Trojan
If its an f-30 you want there is one that gets put up on the hard behind me every winter. I have known the owner since I was a little kid, and he is getting older. He would probably sell it and not want a ton of cash for it. He has owned it since it was new and its in decent shape for its age. I'm still buried under 3 feet of snow here, but in a few weeks I will start getting my own boat ready. I could snap some pics if you are interested.

Thanks for the offer! I really like the F30, but they're hard to find in decent condition so far. If it's in Lake George it's a bit far, but would love to see some pics of the F30. If the local leads I have don't pan out and the guy is willing to sell, might be worth the drive up. I'm looking at a 78 F32 Sunday that is local to me and that my surveyor turned me on to. The price is right and it has new manifolds, carbs, starters, water pumps, batteries, and battery charger. I think it has the original engines, though. I'll post about it after we see it. I noticed you have one, how do you like it?Commissionpoint wrote:If its an f-30 you want there is one that gets put up on the hard behind me every winter. Indeed ... For the "right" price,? Of course :paaronbocknek wrote:hmmmm, 36' eh?........Jerry737 wrote:I agree! Money well spent on not only the boat I was looking at first, but the guidance that the surveyor has offered afterwards to help me find a real value.
Aaron, I'm looking in the 28-34ish range. Depending on use of space in the cabin layout, we could go smaller, I suppose. Alternatively, I'd be willing to move up to 36 as long as price didn't push them out of my range.

Jerry,
If you are loking for feedback on a F-32, mine will be bias. That being said, I love ours. Since the first time I saw one in 1973, I was hooked on the design. The bridge has plenty of room for 5 comfortably, and yet being safe. The cockpit has 60 sq ft. Enough for a table and a few deck chairs. The saloon has 80 sq ft. The sliding door makes the design work. Plenty of light and visability. I have the 2 station layout. The only time I use the lower station is from travel launch to my slip. I would have a concern with bow rise under way reducing visability. This is not a problem with a full enclosure. Three steps down is the galley on the port and a dinette on the starboard. My has a different disign from original. Two summers since remodel, so far so good. Ample size forward stateroom for 2.
Mine is powered by a pair of Merc 233hps, 351 Fords with 2 barrel carbs. I cruise at 2000 rpms and average 2gals per hour per engine. It is one of the best handling boats that I have operated. If a bridge boat is what you like the F-32 will work. I have no regrets on buying our F-32.
I hope this makes your decision easier.
