Trim Tab Sizes. Bennet or other makes. F28 single screw

Post by Bantry Bay Trogan »

Good afternoon or night which ever it may be.

I am a new owner of a Trojan F28 ( 30yr old boat) single screw with flying bridge. I am in the process of doing it up and I need to replace the trim tabs completely. The system in her now is an old Boat Leveling Co.Ltd, I believe the new company name is
http://www.insta-trim.com/.
I am looking at using the Bennett system, using the 24 inch by 12 inch Tabs to replace the old ones ( 24inch by 08inch ) I will be installing the ATC ( Auto Trim Control ) unit with the self parking option installed.
Has any one any Advice for me on the difference between a larger trim tab size and the difference it will make to the Planning and stress on the transom etc.? Also with using the ATC system.
Any how thanks in advance for any and all info
regards and thanks

Welcome aboard I am one of the resident F28 owners here, not too many of us. I have the old insta trim with twin screws, cannot tell you yet about them other than I rebuilt the actuator cylinders as I am getting engines installed. Does your boat not get on plane now. Just because they are old does not mean they cannot be made to work. Have yours quit working? I have never heard of the tab sizing :) being a problem on the f28, and they are completely re-buildable. There are some trim tab experts on this board that I am sure will comment.
