Keel cooler

Post by aceofheartsiii »

Has anyone keel cooled a f26 (or similar) and if so does it seem to cause any drag or any other problems. I just replaced my f25 with a f26 (I wanted the beam) but it's a lake boat with raw water cooling after pricing new heat exchangers I'm cosidering an old school, keel cooling system made from 1" copper tubing running down one side of the keel and up the other, putting stopper plates in the manifolds and a little fancy plumbing and it would cost a lot less. I grew up on old fishing boats and it's a proven reliable way to enclose the cooling system. I look forward to hearing from anyone.

To be quite honest I run my boats no more then 8 kts almost never on a plane. Besides that I'm just kinda interested what other trojan owners have to say,I have done some reasearch already it seem to be a very mixed subject. Is there any one out there with a good used heat exchanger at a reasonable price?
