Do any of you guys have CAT 3116 or similar - RWP question

I'm helping a guy at my dock replace his raw water pump. I got the pump out (and promptly kissed my 454's afterwards). It's a gear driven pump. Does the gear need to be pulled and then pressed on?

I believe so Bob , Cat uses the same series pump as my Cummins (Sherwood 1700 series) Cummins pumps come with a gear Cat pumps Do not ( on the 3116)
