Well I reinstalled the head and intake manifold last weekend. The exhaust side of the head did have rust marks and as you said it’s too hard to determine if there is a crack in the exhaust manifold by pouring water through the water channels.
I didn’t have the head magnifluxed I just gave it a visual inspection. I am assuming the problem is the exhaust manifold and plan to install a new one this weekend and start it up. I will also check the run of the exhaust line.
