Removing f32 aft gas tanks

Well on to the next step with this boat----- I am going to remove the aft fuel tanks and replace with tanks from Moeller ,has anyone out there removed the aft tanks and could give me a hint as to how to get the hard piped fuel inlets off----- do you just take the deck fills off and then leave the pipes in place and remove with the tanks ???--- Thanks Mike

I replaced my midships tanks last year. I replaced everything from the deck plates down, using filler hose and having the correct angles made by the tank manufacturer. The only piece left in place was the vent on the hull, and I used gas hose to connect that to the tank vs. the copper that was in place. I found all the copper seemingly weak, so was glad to replace it all. I also added an extra set of filters to the lines.

Atlantic Tank in NJ made my tanks and fittings for me.

p.s. my deck fittings were attached to the pipe via hose. Into the tanks, they were hard installed, making the tanks hard to remove.

Thanks that what I was hoping to hear,I had pictured fittings all screwed to the deck fill , seems now it should be relatively easy to remove them by prying the hose off I hope----- wish me luck----Mike

You can get to the hose behind the teak panel inside your salon's side cupboards. Why not cut the hose and replace with new they are old. Then you can remove the fittings at the top of the tank with a pipe wrench... once you remove the large hatch in the aft deck it will look obvious. Here is what mine looked like when we replaced aft stringer and deck core.

I would agree with cutting the hose for sure. It was a small piece and getting it free was tough for sure...I think in the end I cut it after working it for a while.

This is the holding tank that was sitting in the middle over the air---- look what happens with a little too many inches of vac.
