Your final comment was a question and it made me chuckle, "Why move on from the Tricab??" The best reason I can come up with is, "It doesn't have to make sense sometimes, for me to go ahead and do something." .....then again, there's that motto from P Dogg - "I needed a less expensive hobby, so I bought a boat!"

My wife and I think that we might have, "One more boat left in us."

I do like the idea of diesels, the better sleeping accommodations and a new adventure.

I am a bit concerned about the exhausts. The posts on this forum last year about rebuilding the exhausts on an international hull seemed pretty daunting to me. The potential moisture (there's obviously going to be some) in the cored decking is another big concern of mine, especially since I've watched two of my dock mates go thru the extensive job of repairing their core issues.

My wife and I are in our mid sixties now but in good condition. We handle the tricab with ease most of the time. I realize that the 12 meter will present more of a challenge when locking, although I'm hoping that I can deal with the rear lines from the side deck near the quarter doors. Any thoughts from anyone about this? It's customary to reverse in to the slip at our marina and I'll be checking the sightlines from the flybridge during the survey. Don't relish the idea of backing in blind.

If anyone has more advice, I'd like to hear it before Tuesday. Thanks again, P Dogg and Prowler.

Prowler, I'm booked for a hull and mechanical survey. The diesels are Cat 3208's and not DD. Does that fact make the mechanical survey easier? 1100 hrs.
