Just wanted to say hi to all of you. I have been lurking around here for the last half a year as we looked at buying a F-36 that I got interested in last winter. With the boat being hauled out, it was a lengthy process getting a survey and sea trial completed and the deal closed.

A big thanks to prowlersfish for answering my many questions offline, and to Butch Immediato (thelast322) for an extremely thorough survey! A big part of my decision to buy a Trojan was the friendly atmosphere here on TrojanBoats.Net and the expert advise given.

Here are a few photos:

Very nice looking and clean! What year and what engines do you have? Congrats!

Jamie, the F36 is a 1975 that shipped with Chrysler 400's. The previous owner put rebuilt 440's in 11 years and 500 hours ago.

We are doing a bit of a re-purpose with this boat. The previous owner has not been taking her out very often the last few years, so our priorities are different about maintenance. The basic hull and stringers are in excellent shape, but there are significant maintenance items that I need to address, like oil and gearbox leaks, a balky Lectra San, etc. The engines run great and the boat is in really nice cosmetic shape. Eventually, I need to do some work on soft spots on the fore deck and around the fuel fills.

I do my own work, so it is quite helpful to have the survey as an initial to-do list. I can't overstate how detail oriented Butch was with the survey. Not to mention we had a good time getting to know each other and I hope we get to meet up on our boats this summer.

We have been boating mostly on the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay on a 25' Chaparral bow rider with an 80 gallon tank. The look on my wife's face when we did our first fill-up was priceless! ;-)

That's good to know, glad everything turned out well for the most part. Where on the Potomac did you boat? I'm in Colonial Beach, so I'm very familiar with both the river and the bay.

We boated mostly around Occoquan and Mattawoman Bays, though we did get down your way every now and then. My brother lives in Leonardtown and we would sometimes meet in the middle. With a trailer boat, we also got the chance to go to many lakes, with Raystown Lake in PA being our favorite.

We gave some thought to putting the F36 in Colonial Beach or on the Port Tobacco River, but the drive down there on Friday's is just too long for us. Where we are on the Rhode River is less than 1 1/2 hours, even with some traffic, and mostly on back roads that are fun. And we were always quite limited when we could boat on the Chesapeake with the 25'er, so this gives us a chance to do a bit more on the Bay, though it will cost more and take longer to get there. For this year, we are going to mostly hang out on the Rhode and get to know the new boat.
