Replacing top rudder board.

Post by Jfreeman1412 »

Hey guys,
I am looking to replace the boards that my rudder shafts go through below deck. If my shafts are 1 inch, what size would I drill the hole for them to go through? I assume slightly bigger so the bearing/busching mount to keep the shaft straight and not have the shaft fit tight into the hole on the new board. Hope this makes sense and thanks for any help.

I think I used a 2" hole saw. It doesn't need to be precise; it just needs to be big enough for the bushing to push through.
