a couple of comments:

1. Closing off the pillow locker in the forward compartment will go a long way to keeping the boat cool with the AC on.

2. Same goes for the two large Lexan hatches - cover them to keep out the heat.

3. you more than likely have heat coming in around where the fridge was formerly located - just get a new fridge at Sears or Home Depot

4. Looks like it's time to re-bed the bow rail, as evidenced by the water stains in the head

5. The yellowed plastic trim rings at the drawers, microwave and other interior locations are really easy to dress up. Simply clean, scuff, mask and use a good quality spray paint for plastic.

Most importantly: If she lives in the water you damned well better check out your bilge pump system - all three of them.

It would be a great idea to add an independent, emergency bilge pump TIED TO THE GENERATOR BATTERY in the salon access (lowest part of this boat) and in the engine room (it's a completely separate bilge.)

Generator appears to have been, well, a bit overmaintained ?

Good luck with her. An amazing, versatile vessel with competent sea keeping abilities!

You will learn to love the qualities of the vacuum formed hull liner.

RWS, I noticed Coonash's head appears to have a factory access panel for working on the Flush Mechanism. My 1981 does not have this, I have to remove a panel in the engine room to access the mechanism (PITA). Does yours have the same access panel.

mine has a small screw in removable deck access bung.

I like that screw in access panel on Coonash's.

mine is entirely too small for my forearms, however it worked when I rebuilt the head during the 2005-2006 refit.

it would, however, be easy to modify it back to the Coonash style.

Can't, the door material is gone. I'll need to fab something at work

2. Same goes for the two large Lexan hatches - cover them to keep out the heat.
Soon, I need to order some material. I was thinking about gluing magnets on the inside and having them sewn into the covers.

Ordered a few days ago. Should be in early next week

I'll read up on this tonight. I was just going to caulk under them the rail attachments

I know were the salon one and engine room ones are. Where is other?

It turns over, haven't really looked at it yet.

Think I would be ok with 8" fenders for raft ups? The boat doesn't have any right now and I don't need at marina the way shes is secured.
I was thinking buying 4 fenders and 2 18" buoys.

I have 8" fenders on the 27' sailboat I sold today.

I've found the round bouys work the best when rafting.

Is this ac pump supposed to be in a bracket? I can't imagine it's ok to be laying on the deck as hot as it gets. Also , where does the condensate supposed to drain to? I thought about putting a shower sump or run a line all the way to the aft bilge.

Here's where I'm at now. Just about got her cleaned up.

he AC condesant drains into the shower sump. If you access the forward bilge at he base of your stairs you will see a black rubber hose running to the shower sump.

Mine must not be hooked up then. I'll check on that the next couple nights.

the original owner of my 10 meter disconnected that hose and ran it directly into the fwd bilge.

I figured it out after a few years and reconnected it into the shower sump.

Easily wiped out when we put her back up on the lift.

regarding the seawater pump - it was originally tied down as I recall next to the starboard stringer.

Some owner/mechanic probably too the easy route to replace it somewhere along the way.

When you re-plumb and permanently attach it, try to get it as far below the water line as possible. This will help when priming it. Also make certain it has the proper sized, proper CAPACITY - CLEANABLE strainer on it.

Well, Things are progressing very well. Took her out the other day and have some sort of loss of power issue with port motor. I'll check that out next weekend.

Main question: When I start the generator it will not turn off by using the switches. I have to disconnect the battery. I tried the switch on electrical panel and the switch on generator. Neither will turn it off.

I'll try and get some current pics up soon.

A few more current pictures.
Currently am having issues with port motor not starting. Have changed the distributors from points to an MSD units, changed plug wires, and added fuel to carb but will not start. Have fire at the plugs. Not sure what is going on with that. Going to check timing chain this weekend to see if it jumped or to much slack. It wants to start just wont.
Still have problem with Generator not being able to shut off at either switch.
