F36 railing question

Hi folks, my 1976 F36 has rot in the rear and side wooden rub rails.
Does anybody have experience with replacing these? It looks like rear rail is made of two pieces glued together in an "L" shape but i have no idea what type of wood it is... teak or something else (mahogony maybe)??
Any help is appretiated, thanks!!

Hi Longshanks, I pulled mine off when I repainted my top deck. Mine where 1 piece machined into a L shape.
Under the stainless cap trim these are bolted through the top and bottom decks about every 2 feet with a pan head bolt counter sunk in the rub rail, and washer and nut inside 7/16" I believe. each bolt is about 2" long (a lot of wrenching).
I found that every other bolt was just attaching the hull together and didn't extend out to the rub rail,so looking at the bolts from the interior of the boat you may see a bolt every foot or so.
I had my boat completely gutted when I did mine and they were easy to get to,but I think you would have a very difficult time accessing all the rub rail bolts with a complete interior.

Thanks Barrie i just finished reading thru your posted project...great work and thanks for keeping track. VERY interesting! Based on this reply i fear what lies ahead but it has to be done. Now im thinking of replacing with a composite material instead of hardwood even though i know the original look will be lost.
