i got a set of rudder for sale off a 10 meter trojan shaft size 1 3/8 in dia e-mail at salmonbound1@rochester.rr.com looking to get 600.00 for the pair

trepka2001 I don't think they will fitt a F32 I belive your rudder shaft is smaller

thanks prowlerfish, when my boat was shipped the shipping co. said the rudders had to be removed.

well, the marine mechanic i hired had to cut off one of the rudders off at the shaft because it was bent. now i need either another rudder or hopefully a very good welder.

any suggestions out there????????

You need to see what size shaft you have and post a pitcher of what it looks like some one might have one laying around. I had one replaced this year that if I had the time to do the leg work mine could have been repaired i may still have it in the boat will try to ck on it. Well not be till week after next before I know something.

I thought the shaft was pressed and pinned to the rudder. I thought it could be repaied.

no, it's one piece and he cut it where the shaft meets the rudder.

any suggestions???

I would bet Its not 1 piece you could have a shaft made for it but it would be almost imposable to get shaft out being cut flush .

It needs to be drilled out. (machine shop work)

are you sure those '74 F32 rudders are two pieces?? if so my brother-in-law owns a machine shop and he can do the work.

i'll have to look closely at the other rudder, but i assumed they were one piece.

If it is two piece I bet it can be removed. I have removed 1 inch bolts on equipment that were embeded with a torch. Not easy but it was the only way to do it. I would think a machine shop could easily fix it up.
I hope you post how you did it. I think it would be interesting to know.

We removed something in a similar manner by welding a smaller dia extension where it was cut (ours was broken) that had a large eyebolt welded to the other end so we could put a pry bar in and rotate to break free and pull out while we heated it. We did drill a pilot hole to put the pry shaft in before welding, and the welder was good with using the right filler and materials.

The problem we ran into with drilling it out was the shaft was harder material (tempered) than the surrounding part that it was stuck in. So unless you are careful with working your drill size up it will want to wander and push to the softer material especially on a long run. Not to mention having to constantly having to re sharpen bits.

The other option was drilling and tapping a pilot hole for extraction.

So if they are two piece then you should be able to get them apart.
