1978 Trojan F32 Bridge Dash conversion with new Gauges??
Hi, new user, first time Post here. I purchased a beautiful F32 last season, and had a great year with it! This year, i am looking to upgrade my Gauges on the Bridge, i had some inconsistant reads on my Temp and Oil Pressure gauges last year. Looking for any input on what type of gauges to look for, preferably modern style.Any input would be appreciated. Thank You.

Welcome aboard. Sky's the limit really in terms of which gauges to go with. Just make sure they match the impedance of the senders currently on the engines or they won't work right. Keep in mind that anything between the sender and gauge could also be the reason for poor readings. The wiring, connections, plugs, corrosion, etc. can all be culprits and will still affect readings on new gauges if that's where the fault lies.

this and in Most cases you need senders for dual helms ( dual gauge) ( senders that can run 2 gauges )

Not sure if they are, but those look like Delco guages, and keep in mind if you replace with modern gauges, you will need to replace the senders also.
I had Delco on my 77 F-26 and learned that lesson when my temp sender went out. Bought the M/C replacement sender and it would not work with the Delco guage. Bob at Beacon helped me through that one.

Welcome to the forum! I'll chime in that if you really want modern, ditch the ol'fashioned analog gauges and go with N2K. I haven't gone whole hog, but when I added a water level sensor to my fresh water tank, it was via N2K to the chartplotter. Same with fuel flow. As a bonus, the GFS-10 that I used for fuel flow includes a digital calibrated fuel level sensor in place of the analog gauge, which is as important as it is notoriously bad.preferably modern style
I needed a less expensive hobby, so I bought a boat!

Pretty! This is on our list, too. Do you have any photos of your interior? I'd love to see.

When I did this on my f32 I used Faria gauges...no new senders. I used the SS Chesapeake White...I can send a link to a picture if you would like to see it.

Re: 1978 Trojan F32 Bridge Dash conversion with new Gauges??
So, i haven't checked back on this thread for a while. I ended up getting a full set of Teleflex International Gauges. I installed 1 gauge, (took me about 2 hours). The combination of the lack of spare wiring, and having to change our the Butt connectors, made for a painful project. Debating getting a professional to finish the job. Need to make sure all Gauges are accurate! Thanks for the input!

Re: 1978 Trojan F32 Bridge Dash conversion with new Gauges??
I switched mine out for the same Teleflex Red Internationals a few years back. And yes, it was a pain to adjust the wiring, but if I remember correctly it was just the ground circuit (that runs daisy-chained from gauge to gauge) that needed adjustment. I just made a diagram of how the wires were routed from gauge to gauge, pulled the old harness, made a new harness with new wire cut to the same lengths but using the right connectors, and reinstalled as per the diagram.
My original gauges were DetMars, so if you have something different maybe more terminals have to be rewired? But for me it was just the one per gauge.

Did you check to see if they match the senders you have ?
