Hynautic Steering

Post by Targojoe »

Can anyone tell me what model number or serial number would have been used in my 78 F-36? I need to replace the seal in the upper helm..
Thanks for your help

Should be a H-20 series most likely a H-25 or 26 ( same kits ) . There are a early and a late kit using 2 different shaft seals . You can ID the seals but easy to mistake the 2 until the helm is pulled apart . I would have both kits ready just in case .

The Hynautic kit numbers are HS-01 (External Black Seal ) or HS-02 (Internal Seal w/White Visible Wiper )

Thanks prowlerfish! It's an H25s and it's the HS-02 seal kit...(interior seal)

Now the hynautic reservoir has instructions on it that says I can use transmission fluid...should I or should I not? I did put about a quart of tranny fluid in it two years ago...

Should I flush it all out and put hynautic fluid in it or is tyranny fluid ok?
