I am wondering if anyone can conform the mounting position of the two oil coolers for the engine and transmission. I have a Chrysler 440, and both are just zip tied below the engine in a horizontal orientation. I have seen some pictures where they are mounted vertically on each side of the transmission. This would seem the be the logical choice as it would allow them to be drained for winterizing them.

I needed a less expensive hobby, so I bought a boat!

Mine are horizontal along side the block about at the height of the top of the oil pan. The drain plugs on the coolers allow you to drain them.

Re: Oil Cooler mounting position Chrysler 440
Thank you for the reply. I wonder if there is a reason to not mount them in an easier place to access. Last weekend I had a hose bust and replacing it was a real nightmare because the oil coolers were loose and hard to reach. I am sure it looked comical to see me trying to contort into place while in the ICW with a hot engine and a boat rocking in 3-4 foot swells hitting me broadside. LOL Funny to think about now, but not at the time...

Wow! I don't remember have any difficulty accessing mine when I installed them

Just Kidding.
That does sound like bad timing
I just realised your engines are likely under the salon

LOL! Yupp, taking everything out like that would make it easier...
Yes mine are under the salon. With all the cooling hoses in questionable condition, I am going to replace them all and when doing that, I think I am going to relocate the oil coolers to make them easier to access...
