Non-Skid Top Paint

Hello all, still pushing along in the restoration. Will update journal soon. About to start on the top paint. I have the non-slip dimples on my F26.

Can I just prep and paint over these dimples and all will be good?

I am certainly not an expert on this subject, however, I would be a bit carefull with applying the paint. If you are not going to spay, you may end up filling the dimples with a heavier load of paint just by brushing it on. I would think really fine multiple coats would be the safest route to prevent filling in your dimpled surface and using a roller thinned with brushing agent.

Depends on what the current coating is. Chances are the current coat needs to be sanded prior to recoating which is next to impossible to get to the bottom of all the nooks and crannies without completely flattening all the non-skid. If this prepped properly, it'll eventually start peeling in all the valleys you couldn't sand. Seen this happen many times so I don't chance it, and always sand flat, then retexture the non-skid.
