11 meter window seals

Post by Jimmy »

While giving the old girl a good ole scrubbing, I noticed the window seals have deteriorated quite a bit. Schrunk, stiff and cracked. I want to replace these, and it appears there are at least two sizes, and types. Has anyone else replaced these, and, if so, where did you find the material?

Also, what works well for getting the black color back on the rub rail base?

The more I learn about this boat.... The more I like it.

if your talking about the oval windows i believe they were originally supplied to Trojan from a company GG Schmitt in lancaster PA and they are still in business

not sure if they sell replacement gaskets.

I purchased new ones from mc master carr that seem to fit well . fairly easy to replace the seals and bug screens at the same time

Congrats on the new boat!

Thanks for the info, the windows are actually the windshields. It is the rubber flat looking seals that cover the mounting screws. One looks to be about 3/4" wide, the other 3/8" wide. They are probably not seals, but rather just cosmetic covers. But looking bad.... However, the oval windows are on the list of ? Need to be replaced. The source you provided is exactly the match. Thanks!

These are the windshield seals. Noticed the frames need some attention as well...... Add it to the list.

Any idea where to get this type of material?

I believe you want to look at "screw cover vinyls"

Try to place one order for everything you need, they bang you pretty good for shipping & handling

I had the same problem.I bought 3/4 flat vinyl molding from Home Depot. Painted it black and attached 1/2 foam weather striping to the Back to fit in the track. Glued it down with contact cement and looks great. I will post a picture later this week when the river goes down. Easy and didn't cost a lot.

Great suggestions, i will have to get a measurement of the gap, and figure out what strip fits best. I found a few marine window strip suppliers as well that had some similar, but need to measure. Once I find what fits, Ill get some ordered and post what I used for others to reference if needed. But also very interested in the 'make it yourself' approach. Not because I am cheap... But more to prove to my wife "I can make that". Our little joke which only rarely goes in her direction.

As always thanks for the assistance. Great forum

my windshield on my tri cabin leaks like a sieve at the corners. i'm tired of the drip pans.......... anyway, i was talking to a buddy of mine and he suggested this.......digging out the old exterior seals. filling in the gap with window glazing butyl tape. tape over the windshield frame and use black automotive glaze/caulk. smooth out and that should do the trick. will that work? mike kulp, next to me at the marina replaced his seals from taylor made. he simply sent them 1/2" of each seal he has and they matched it.

I actually thought of the black silicone trick, but would like to keep it as original as possible, but if i cannot find the right covers, good to know there are options. Boats do leak from the bottom AND the top.....

Hi Doug,

Haven't seen a post from you for a while. Great to see that big 13 meter baby again, in the photo. What's happening boat-wise with you since that unfortunate episode last year? Hope things are working out.

Update, after much searching, and some good leads, I found both types of window seals. For the flat wide trim ( screw covers) I found the perfect match on Ebay. A lady named Babbett has both 3/4" and 5/8" material that snaps right in.

For the funny shaped window trim, I found at Taylor Made. Both a bit pricy, but look great. I will finish the rest of the windows in the spring since boat is coming out soon. And I'm going to try to have the badly micro cracked corner windows replaced, and trim them out when they are put back in. Stay tuned.

Just a followup to an old post from Jimmy regarding a supplier for the windshield screw cover trim ... { I've been researching for days and this old post was a great help for me }

The Ebay lady " Babbett " Her real Ebay handle is furniturelady10

http://www.ebay.com/usr/furniturelady10 ... 7675.l2559

Excellent seller rating and quite the supply !!

I'll followup with part numbers after installation is complete..

Glad it helped. Been off for a while..... the seals worked great, but had some tight spots that I had to really push the rubber into. All in all the seals worked great and look great too.
