Removing fly bridge

We have a 1985 F36 and we are considering removing the fly bridge. Dose anyone know of any negative affects this would have on handling?

No negative effect in fact it would lower the center off gravity and that would only help handling . What it would hurt would be resale IMO.

I agree with Paul, I don't see any reason why it would have a negative effect on handling. You'd be limiting resale value and your market if you removed the bridge off this particular model.

Is there a reason why you want to remove the bridge?

I have a 85 f-32 I bought it with no top on it I have a top but like it without, the guy I bought it from took it off says the boat handles better and doesn't rock as much not that was a big issue pretty stable boats it only stands to reason without the weight the boat handles better ,he said better gas mileage I always wanted a fly bridge, it is nice docking but I have no problem without it I bought this cause of the helm down stairs I had a Phoenix with a flying bridge as I get older the ladder going up down was killing my back and knees and it rocked a lot love my f32 without the fly bridge, I also seen in my marina on windy days boats with a fly ridge have a hard time docking , I don't have that problem good luck mark your wires

My problems is my knees, torn acl in both in high school, 1976! (Never repared, now bone to bone)
I sold the outriggers this week end. Now hoping the enclosure will sell next. I have an electrician lined up to take the responsibility on the wires. I am building a small station in the cockpit to move the stock console and controls to.

If you are actually on the Wye, we are right across the Bay from you off the Rhode.

As you move forward with your project, how about posting photos? I, for one, would love to follow your progress. We really enjoy our flybridge and have no plans to remove it, but I think the F36 without a flybridge would have a stunning profile. Are you going to keep the handrails or remove them, like many NC sportfish boats have gone to?

The beautiful Wye River is a favorite crabbing location, we have been crabbing there and on the Chester River for over 35 years. We dock in Rock Hall Harbor. I will post pics as things evolve.

The bow rail will stay as it will help me, my wife and the grand kids navigate the gunnel on our way to the bow deck.

Are you still selling the flybridge top and enclosure and is it in good shape?

Looks very nice! Having the console in the cockpit will make docking a breeze, even if single handing.

Maybe we will get to Rock Hall this summer and see her in person.
