For the fisherman

Post by Stripermann2 »

Happy New year to you all. Going to start fishing here in January down in VA Beach in a couple of weeks. Here's a video made by a fisherman down that way, the diving birds are crazy to see when you're in the middle of it! :D

Also, for the folks who live and boat down that way, interesting shot of a F36 (1:31 seconds into it) fishing in the frenzy. Anyone know who's boat it is? Perhaps it's a member from this site. Very cool.

No Paul, not mine. A charter captain friend brought his 46' Markley down and I'm going to get some friends to go out. We do it every year.

But...if you're wanting to head out sometime, say the word and I'll be right down! :D

Not sure where Lynnhaven is but they had the SAR folks out looking for someone. Crazy to be out in 40KT plus winds.

Just inland from Virginia Beach I think. Lynnhaven Bay is just inside Chesapeake Bay on the south shore.

Looks fun (cold) - it would be wonderful to fish within sight of land ...

We don't have huge stripers here (they stopp around Cape Hatteras), but the Redfish get to 40+ pounds, and don't need a big boat to go after.

Due to regulations, you can't fish (for Striped bass) more than 3 miles from land...Big fines if they catch rockfish in your boat out there! :( :(
