any idea why it's been on the market so long?

When I first noticed that boat on the market they had it listed at $129,000, which was way too high.
I believe the last time I talked to the broker it was down to $89,000, which in my opinion is still too high.
If I remember correctly, that boat had the Cat 3208's in it with about 1600 hours.
The engine room did not look like the boat was maintained and was rough. I don't believe it was a hands on owner.
All in all, to answer your question the boat .... in my opinion, does not show very well and was way overpriced.
For the right money and with a quality survey (boat and engines), and if you are hands on it could be a nice boat.

I think what I like the most is the boat is its sea keeping abilities.ramblin wrote:Jerry,

What do you like most about your 12 meter...what do you like least?
Stan
When I take off work to go on a trip and the lake is kicking up, I can normally still go without issue. If we are running with other boats and it kicks up, I have to slow down so they can keep up.
I also like the fact that the boat is very comfortable to spend extended periods of time on.
What I like least is ..... well...... hang on a minute..... something may come to me....
I think you may have touched on it as the aft stateroom and head would be on the small side if you are a big person. I am lucky as I am only 5' 8'' so for me it is a non issue.
I also plan on doing the Loop and think it would be a great boat to do it in if you are at hull speed.

You mentioned doing the loop, what is the draft and what is you burn rate at hull speed? I've been thinking about doing the loop some day as well but it wouldn't be for 10+ years. It's never to early to start thinking about it and trying to come up with ideas about what would he;p make this trip great.

I can't remember exactly what my boat draws but I believe it was just under 4'.Audrey II wrote:You mentioned doing the loop, what is the draft and what is you burn rate at hull speed? .
I am not sure what my burn is at hull speed. Most of my trips are made at a cruise of 16-20mph. At this past summers fuel prices it costs about $100.00 an hour to run at that speed.
I did take one trip over to Port Dover at hull speed. That would be a total of about 105 miles. I went over and back and used about 65-70 gallons or so. That is a good guess as I did a lot more local boating before I went for fuel.

Jerry,
thanks for the feedback on that boat in MI.
how long have you had your boat and what changes/updates did you do when you first got her? it looks beautiful in the picture. I like the minimal stripping, if i did get one like the MI boat i would take off the heavy stripping on it. do you have any other pictures?
When i had my 10 meter we also used to go over to Dover all the time. On the way used to spend a night inside long point at paddahawk on the hook. Brings back some great memories.
Also used to travel to Erie on occassion. They have done some great things with their waterfront!

Stan,
I have had this boat for about 2.5 years now.
The interior was the first thing I had started on and still have a ways to go. I could not stand all the fu fu colors. I needed to get some testosterone flowing in there.
I did new carpet throughout the interior, flybridge and aft deck. I also put down a hardwood floor in the galley to replace the blue ceramic tiles.
Adding to the engine rebuild that I am in the middle of, I am also in the middle of all new upholstery on the bridge and side coverings, and also coverings under the arch and on the arch sides.
Some times I take on too much at one time.
In the spring I am going to redo all the exterior striping as I think there is too much on the boat now and I do not like the colors of what is there.
Oh yes, Pottahawk.... Ever been to the Pottahawk Bash?
I try to get over to Dover at least a couple of times a year. I used to really enjoy when they had Fish Fest every July.

Jerry,
You're doing pretty much what i had envisioned to do to boat we'd buy. I agree the fu-fu colors have to go! On our 10 meter that we had years ago it had that big diagonal strip near the transom. Took it off and redid the boot strip, changed canvas color, replaced carpets. The old owner happened to be in the yard when they pulled it for the winter and asked the yard hand where his old boat was. They said he was standing next to it. He had a hard time beleiving it was his old boat.
Never been to the Pottahawk bash. Saw pictures, heard stories.
How did you go about finding your boat in the first place?
Did you know the engine was going to need work? I've only has gas, so diesels are new to me and kind of a concern.

I watched this boat for a couple of years as it was on the market but waaaaaaay overpriced. I had first seen it in Lakeland Boating, then in Yacht Trader.ramblin wrote:Jerry,

It then popped up at the Cleveland boat show with a reduced price so it was like it was following me.
Once the owner came down some I made contact and started the process. The owner and his wife were very nice people that owned numerous boats.
We went back and forth for quite some time before we finally made a deal.
I did know that the boat had been sitting for a long time so I was ready for work, but I did not know that engine was going to be in need of a rebuild.
I was going to pay to have the engine done but once I started getting prices between $16,000 and $22,000 I decided to do it myself. I have always done my own work and am very comfortable turning wrenches.
I also have numerous friends that own repair facilities and one owns a local machine shop so I am surrounded with the right people.
I also belong to a few forums that help me when it is needed. There are a bunch of very knowledgeable people out there that are willing to lend a hand.
The only thing I may have someone do is fit the sleeves and adjust the rack and govenor when it is ready to fire. They are dry sleeves and that I have never done before.
