The original switch panel has now been removed and the new one installed. I have also removed the breakers from the DC panel in the bilge and installed them in the new switch panel. In doing so I was able to shorten their leads however the #4 gauge house lead had to be replaced and made longer to reach the new switch panel.
Replacing this panel also gave me a place to install switches for the auxiliary bilge pumps and something that may interest Larry. I added an analog DC voltmeter with a momentary toggle switch which is dedicated to the house bank. A simple lift of the toggle and the battery status is displayed inexpensively.
Below is a picture of the panels being switched. Wires were temporarily labeled with green tape and a pen as they were removed so that no mistakes would be made.
Panel installed.
Old panels that were removed.
The next part of this job will be replacing the glass fuse blocks with the new breaker panel. I will try to be more descriptive on this next part since there is some of our other members may be interested in doing something similar. Should be done within the next couple of weeks.

Really appreciate the very descriptive updates, Paul. My DC panel (still the original) is different looking that your, as is the AC panel (also still the original). I've cleaned up all the DC wiring and connections and have added circuits along the way, but all are wired to the glass fuses, which I'd like to replace with breakers. I'd be interested in your panels now that you've got the template made. Any idea if they'd be for sale?
Hey - offer to put him up for a month or two in sunny FL and maybe he will come down and do the job for you, since he's done it before! (and there will be a crap-load less snow and ice)
