I am not 100% sure what it's going to take. The boat has a note on it. The bank doesn't want it. I am working on what if any delinquent tax is involved. We have slip rental. Also the boat was documented and the old owner still owns the boat and I need to get how the county can release the old owner and get a new owner on the documentation. I have talked to the coast guard and they are looking for a law from the county. the county says they have one but I still don't have the actual law name to give to the coast guard to see of they will allow ownership transfer.

I will try and get this nailed down and pass it along.

If anyone is really interested please let me know.

So its quite encumbered as well as needing some restoration.

If the bank doesn't want it, get them to discharge the note and release any lein. If the documented owner doesn't want it get him to sell it for $1 and other valuable consideration, which in this case would be not having to pay for disposal. Then see if you pay the arrears on the taxes if you can get it titled in your name. Since you seem to be hot on the trail it would be much easier for you to get this kind of stuff done even if you don't end up wanting to keep it.

This is not that bad, really.

The winterization question id the key to the total cost.

The rest is mostly cosmetic soft goods that have to be replaced on a regular basis anyway.

A budget of $5,000 plus the engines (if they are actually cracked) would do her.

Rebuilts are redially available.

Could be a nice boat for a rehab of $10,000, provided there is no damage to the stringers.

Chalk the rest up to ongoing maintenance.

Seriously.

Just take a look at what NATCHAMP (Mark) has accomplished as an example.

When he's done he will have a 100% reliable vessel with a great hull design and the engineering to back up a great seaworthy vessel.

hopefully there will be someone, or, a group of someones, that want to attack this. what would be really great is to have it as a group project. i know, in my heart, that there might be a way to save this grand lady. i've seen much much worse just in the boat yard near me. there has to be a way to save her and her legacy.
now, what i would like to know is what happened to advance her to the state she is in now. it breaks my heart seeing something like this happening to a piece of yachting history.
i wonder if there is a way to have some folks from a vocational school/college take this on? just a suggestion.

Just called the county.

Boat will sit until at least end of December.

County is going after the owner to do something. He has 30 days. If no response then the boat ownership will be transfered to county. At that point all previous taxes will be null and void and boat will be sold at auction.

I will be in contact with the county to attend auction looks like in Jan or Feb of 2012

Keep you all posted when I have the auction date and time.

ENTERPRISE left the dock twice in the fall. once to get fuel for the winter, and the second time i had the expert team of mike and kathy kulp to practice docking and pumping out. i'm glad to have them along. hopefully once the port prop is fixed her handling will improve.

hey allen, ENTERPRISE is scheduled to be winterized on friday at 1000 hrs. the prop fix will be held off until spring as i'm still getting the funds together. i will keep you posted when i start recruiting a crew. now that i know how to get to sue island marina where john is, i feel more secure about taking her over. it won't be a fast trip as the bent blades send a really bad vibration through the entire boat just below 1000 rpm.
where are you having yours hauled? wish you could have kept her in the water at parkside. they take a few every winter.

Mine is down Goose Harbor. Got an April 15 launch date possibly earlier if ready. Sending my props for a 'tune up' this winter. Started getting a slight vibration mid summer so having them done, and checking everything else.

goose harbor, isn't that the marina run by that crazy old man who runs around in a golf cart? two people in my marina had a silverton there until they moved it over to parkside. when i went to visit, even though i was invited by the spaldings, he insisted that i sign a waver stating that i was not working on the boat. the man is an odd ball to be sure. i'd like to see your vessel when she's hauled out if she is available, but i will need to meet you at the marina's front gate. i do NOT want another confrontation with that guy.

I was . I said that meter boat would make a nice pier sitter , due to the fact it was on a very very small lake . It was some one else that said tri cabin ( a person that owes me a tanker of fuel) they will remain nameless . I defended the tri by saying Pier sitters come in all types of boats .

No my boat may come a pier sitter, if the nameless one won't deliver my fuel

Allen I am waiting on my fuel OPPS !!
