That is a great trick to know and should be a big help on board, especially on a longer outing. I am not overly thrilled about putting another thru hull in the boat just for the head but I do have 3 old tranducers that are obsolete that could be removed and I could use one of those existing holes. I just hear about the nightmare of thru hull fittings sinking boats and this one will be sitting year round in the water.

well.... sorry, i don't even know your name..... here is another suggestion that some newer boats have as a set up. most newer vessels have a through hull as a discharge as an option. most, if not all, just use a holding tank and deck pumpout set up. what you can do is Y valve the small internal traveler holding tank to a larger one and then dump the waste from the large tank. this can be done manually or via macerator pump.

And the link Aaron posted - this is a CHEAP price for the toliet. The prices on these fluctuate at various times of the year. Normally, they are $500 to $600.

Thanks for all the input. I have all the lines and waste tank ready to go back in tomorrow. Still have to check the existing toilet and get my fresh water system working, however all that seems fairly easily accessible. My big concern was getting the waste tank situation sorted out before the engine goes back in, making it real hard to get to after that. Trying to stay one step ahead of the mechanic and not give any reasons for further delays-lol! We have decided to stay with the existing fresh water rinse system for now and hopefully the rest will go fairly easily. Of course if not I will come to the forum for some more great advice.

good luck, and keep us posted. strange, now that you have taken on this project, i'm actually considering taking out the electric commode in the aft head and reinstalling a traveler. heck, they use no power, simple to use and operate, and it makes things simpler. and i could use that right now.
