well i tried to find some online, unfortunately they don't just sell DIY material without "professional" installation

if you phone a roofing contractor they will probably sell it to you or try a local roofing store, there is also this stuff http://www.deckmastercanada.ca/index.html

same thing as duradeck and for sure roofing stores will sell it, around here in toronto they sell it for 1 dollar a square foot! It is sold by the running foot (6 foot wide rolls) at 6 bucks and they just cut it to what you want. At this it would be about 72 canadian pesos to do my boat. Heck if you cant get it there I can ship it for you, and still do your boat for under 150 bucks!

Well after contacting about 10 different sales reps about "synthetic" teak i have come to this conclusion, the average price per square foot including the glue and excluding the shipping is approximate $35-40 regardless of what company you go with, the hidden charges are also a lot of these companies also throw in $100-200 for "BOXING" fees on top of shipping.... also looked into cork decking which was also about the same...

final opinion is that its actually cheaper to get real teak + tools and materials to install it then getting the synthetic stuff, so i have no clue how they market it as a "cheap alternative" when its actually not cheap at all, also i have read up a lot on the deck heat issue and it is a complint from a lot of people that use it

i will give it this thou, if you have no technical knowledge or have two left hands a precut template is the sure way to go (which btw costs extra)

what I used in side was only $8 sq ft ( $48 linear ft /6 ft wide ) no hassle ordering direct . they sell other types to .

i was talking about the exterior use aspect of this stuff, you can lay down fairly much anything interior wise without to much worry

They make many other types for exteror use, and it was no hassle ording direct no BS . You were saying no one would sell to you . The do sell to the DIY . We have not had any hassles at all . Just a thought .

i have reread my earlier posts and don't seem to find anywhere where i mention that they aren't willing to sell the stuff to me, i mentioned that several companies push their "professional Installation" angle and that you have to buy through a distributor however nowhere that they are unwilling to sell to me.

The company that you have pointed out indeed does sell their product online, however if you have also read the previous posts in this topic you would have noticed that it wasn't one particular product that i was comparing. in fact i contacted many companies for similar products and the conclusion was fairly much the same throughout, also the pricing i was requesting was for exterior grade not interior, which is ls a huge price difference.

that comment was meant for rooferdave's suggestion of using the roofing material for the boat deck, they didn't sell DIY without pro install or through a distributor (which there aren't any around the Norfolk area)

and yes, unfortunately we all know about boats and the prices associated with them all to well....

Based on this.

PlasDECK 6″ Shiplap Roll Black Lines
Part # E-523
$280 for 6"x31'

PlasDECK Trim with Bullnose Edge
Part # E-604
$55 for 3"x8'

To do my back deck on my Tri-Cabin I would need 3 rolls of this plus 2 edges to do my back deck. Then the cost of glue. I would not do this over the teak deck though, i don't think i twould have a good enough bond for that. Seems pretty cost effective to me and would be alot less work to do.

$950 for plasDECK, $100 for glue and misc materials, $1050 and it will last forever. Not teak, but less work. If and when I need to recaulk mine I'm probably going to just pull it up and do this and be done.

I've attached photo's of the PlasDeck I installed 3 years ago on my charter boat. It has held up very well and is one of the best investments I've made on my 10 meter express. I've fished at least 150 days in that time frame and it still looks brand new and makes cleaning up after a day of fishing much easier. Is it cheap...NO. Does it get hot...not really. I fish on Lake Ontario which is certainly not South Florida but my decking would never burn anyone. You can always hit it with your washdown if temperature is a concern. There are many sources for this type of decking. I ordered mine through Bob @ Beacon

That deck looks awesome....plus you're in rochester. I would definitely like to talk to you about you're installation. I wanted to do my deck and some of my top deck with the same product.
