Refitting a 1976 F-32 Journal

Time to lay the decking. Everything is framed. The wiring, plumbing and exhaust all straightened out and secured so it can't rub on anything.

Looks great. Im a little bit behind you. I have both tanks secured and plumbed. Next will be rewiring all the old wiring. Then laying the floor. How did you decide to make the hatch trim. I have a few ideas for mine since im enlarging my hatch.

Best thing I could do is show you my detail drawing. By routing the half circle trough the water should drain to the stern scupper holes.

Did some more tidying up of the plumbing, ran new flexible water line and rewired the fresh water pump. The Aft Bilge pump is mounted and rewired correctly. P/O had the switch wired wrong. There was no auto mode set up. Now its right, just flip the switch to auto and if the water gets high the pumps automatic switch kicks it on. And I have the manual mode also so I can just turn the pump on and off as needed... Finished the last of the hatch framing and painted the last of the framing. Prepped the fiberglass sill so I can glue/seal the flooring to it to create a gutter in front of the scupper holes. Plus I worked on the engine bay, started cleaning up the loose dirt and stuff.

Worked on the new battery box today. Its 14 x 32 inside so it can hold (4) Four batteries. The cutouts are for the cables to come and go from and the top lifts off for easy access. Also with the top on its a nice place to step or sit while working around the engines. Coat of gray paint and I'll be ready to install it when I get to the engine bay. Just keeping busy at home, with the boat almost a two hour drive away I'm doing as much as I can at home.

Nice work on the battery box. Is that with 2 batteries side by side? Or 4 in a row?. Once im done with the rear deck i will move into the engine room after boat is launched.

It actually can work either way. My research has the largest battery out there at about a 7" x 14" footprint and the box is 14.5" x 30" inside. So I'll see how the wiring flows in and out to determine the best layout. I currently only have three batteries, two being start batteries. But want to upgrade to two house batteries down the road. My charger can handle three battery banks so it should work quite well. Still haven't decided on using an inverter or just getting a 12 volt fridge. Having the inverter would give me the option to run small 110 volt ac stuff when not hooked to shore power so I'm leaning that way right now... And as you can see my current set up from the P/O needs cleaned up a bit.

The second picture is the charger I picked up. It's not new but new to me and can handle three battery banks and different battery types according to the manual. And the first picture is the undersized charger currently on the boat.

My favorite is the red and black wires going to the same terminal.

LOL gotta love the P/O. I have all new cables ready to swap out when I redo the battery lay out...

Thats nothing i should post a pic of what my batteries look like. Lol. Just waiting to see what happens with the genset i might be getting this weekend and that will determine how i lay out my batteries

New hatch framed and ready to reinforce with fiberglass and then finish with gelcoat/non skid. I have to give it a trial fit before I glass it but that may not happen till next weekend, Starting to get nervous as spring is approaching fast. Final measurement is 38" x 48-1/2". I'm going to buy gas struts and hinge it so it will stay open. Thought about hinging it by the transom but I'm throwing around the idea of hinging the 48" side but I have to check the clearance first.

You did the framing out of the plywood as well? Thats interesting. I didnt think of doing it like that. That will rexuce my wait time. As far as a trim what did you decide on? Im thinking this.

Then im going to use these with rubber gasket around the whole trim to make it water tight when the cam compresses.
