F-28 Blower/Blowers
I have new to me 79' F-28 and was wondering if I should be looking for one Blower, or two. I've searched and found info on other models but I haven't found any on the F-28. I think I know where one is behind the wall on the starboard side in the salon because, I see a vent cover that I assume is for the blower on that side but nothing on the port side. Just wondering if I need to remove the walls on both sides, or just one.

Re: F-28 Blower/Blowers
My F32 has two blowers, but my father's old '68 28' Sea Skiff only had one. So one is probably enough for your application, but more blowers is always safer. Look around the engine compartment and under the aft deck for any ducting (usually 4" white dryer-type stuff). Follow where the ducting goes to find the vent(s) and / or blowers. On the hull sides, there should be standard vents that the hoses run to. Intake vents should be plumbed to direct air to the bilge, exhaust vents should take air from the lowest parts in the bilge to outside (go get rid of heavier than air gas fumes).
Re: F-28 Blower/Blowers
Thanks for your reply Captain I'll follow the duct work and see where they lead.
Re: F-28 Blower/Blowers
Our F32 had 3 blowers, 2-4" and 1-3" blower. It may have been over kill, but no fumes were going to stay in there very long. They were original equipment. 2 of them made a lot of grinding noise when activated so I had an alternator shop rebuild them for $25 each.

If you can only find one blower cover you have only one blower. If blower cover is missing there is a clear evidence were it would have been.
Also your DC electrical drawing would show the blowers.
If you do not have the electrical drawings for your Trojan give us a call.

Re: F-28 Blower/Blowers
As Bob said it is my experience with two f28 that they have two of them. behind the setees on each side. One larger and the other smaller.

Re: F-28 Blower/Blowers
I've checked behind, under and around the seating and have found that my F-28 only has one blower motor located on the starboard side. I have power to the motor, now that I have replaced the faulty fuse blocks, and the motor is dead.
Are there any known direct replacements on the market that match up to the flange bolt hole spacing of the original? I have found a few online that look similar but I could not find any part numbers on the original to reference, so ordering online always feels like a crap shoot.
I might replace the motor only and reuse the housing and actual blower cage, if I can separate them and if they are in good condition. Next time I go down to the boat I'll remove it and see how it looks internally. Has anyone done that with theirs? I'll check with Bob, but any other sources would be helpful too.

Thanks Bob, I think that 4" is what I need. After I pull the existing I'll see how much trouble repairing it is vs. replace and then be in touch.

I am sure there is a way to repair it but we always replace them when they go bad.
