F32 Helm Seats
Anyone have a pair of original helm seats in good shape they would part with. We need to replace ours or re-upholster what we have. Wife can do it but need to check our options.
Thanks and Happy New Year all.

Re: F32 Helm Seats
We looked at replacing ours because the armrest on the captains chair was not attached to the base. Anything comparable was too expensive so I replaced the broken base board and we will reupholster and replace the foam on both seats one of these days.
To reattach the vinyl, you need stainless steel staples and a good gun.

Yes I hear you on a good staple gun. We will just rebuild ours at this point. We have rebuilt boat seating before and my wife is pretty good at it but it is time consuming. Ahhh the joys of an old boat!

Re: F32 Helm Seats
If the seat is exposed to weather, i recommend monel staples.

I needed a less expensive hobby, so I bought a boat!

Dang those monel staples are expensive! Stainless costs less, but is more likely to corrode, especially if in contact with another metal.
I used stainless when I repaired one of our helm seats because I already had them and didn't do any further research. When I get around to installing new foam and recovering, I guess I will see if that was a good decision!

Re: F32 Helm Seats
On our previous boat, I needed just one of the pieces of vinyl replaced on a bench seat. I took the seat apart and brought the sewed vinyl to a local upholstery shop. He only charged me $100 for the new piece of vinyl and sewing it into the rest of the vinyl. I stapled it back in place and reinstalled the seat.
A boat canvas shop could also provide the vinyl and sew it for you. Taking the seat apart and putting it back together yourself can save quite a bit of the cost.
