Any idea on the life of a boat that has been in fresh water when compared to that of a boat Salt water?
Will risers last that much longer
Altenators?
Generator?
Stuffing boxes?
Is there going to be a significant advantage? I know the answer but want to hear what others think?

For one, the riser and exhaust will last a bit longer in fresh water. The salt moisture in the air will start to corroded and pit any aluminum or other metals it comes in contact with if not thoroughly rinsed down and cared for. You may get more wear of the packings in salt water, how significant?...I don't know. The generator, alternator are suseptible to corrosion from the air in a salt water enviroment...once again, care in the equipment can prolong any adverse conditions.
Advantage...hmmm. A boat is faster in salt water!

Hello
both will last it all depends on the maintance you do
salt boat takes more TLC to keep it in top notch shape for years to come
I have my 1974 trojan sea raider on the gulf coast of texas
and have no issues other than keep it clean and always rinse it down with freash water, if you run in salt water invest in a engine flush kit it can be added near the oil cooler to run fleash water thru the raw water side of your cooling system , this will add loggevity to your engine life
