Oil - 454 xl fuel injected

I have two engine oil fill cap on each engine. One dipstick. One oil filter. Does it matter where the oil goes in. Or do they both need to take 3 1/2 quarts? Sorry for the novice question. I build houses. I don’t do engines. Until now. Thanks for the help

Use what ever one is easiest

They do that some times to make it easier , As it can be hard to get one side or the other on some boats .
