any major problems with the 1980 F40s

Are you sure its a F40 ? I am not sure the made a F40 ( I could be wrong )

Look for soft spongy foredeck and hardtop/flybridge floors. This is an indication of balsa coring full of water and rotting out. Also check for main longitudinal stringer rot. The rest is just weekend or winter projects.
