aaron f-32 middle river, md ONAN 6.5kw mcck

Post by aaronbocknek »

morning all. this is probably the oddest post i've submitted, but here goes. my 1976 f-32 has an onan 6.5kw (mcck) genset. the owners manual is missing in action and for the life of me i cannot figure out how to check the oil level. my folks had a kohler on their f-36 tri cabin and it was all very basic on that unit. can anyone assist me on this? also, if anyone has an idea where i can obtain an owners/operators manual for this genset i would greatly appreciate it. hell, i'll even pay to have the bloody thing copied. if any onan 6.5kw owners are near me on the middle river in maryland (i'm at parkside marina) i would gladly welcome any help on this subject. i fully intend to be on the boat this weekend around 9 in the morning. i am in slip 117, parkside marina on edwards lane.
thanks all.

If you at the side of the genset with the belt on the left and the electrical control box on the right, you should see a cap low on the unit, right above the oil sump just left of the mating between the engine and the generator. Unscrew that cap & there's where you check your oil.

If you send me your email address, I will post the manuals in pdf format to my FTP site. I'll send instructions on how to retrieve.

Ahh-I see why you couldn't find where your oil fill is on the gen set. Was looking at your boat pics (nice boat btw!). The flexible exhaust hose coming off your riser runs right along the side of the gen set, blocking the oil fill cap from your view.
