Hey Code9000;
Thank You for The Welcome, ya; it's a big boat, and needs a good bit of work, but with time and a great site like this to find said items, it should be fun.

Thank's again;

Nice Boat

Post by TADTOOMUCH »

Looks pretty nice on the outside. I am assuming that for a 1972 she has a fiberglass hull? There are a lot of resources here to help you and beacon marine's John can answer about any Trojan question you will have. Also there is a guy a Marine Tech that is pretty good with helping out and answering questions about parts you might need to replace or get you a source for them. Welcome to the Forum.

Hello TadTooMuch:

Thank You for the great info, the outside is 85 %, stress upper cracks and some broken fiberglass on left quarter end.
Top deck was recovered, new paint and carpet. Berth and ceilings still need to be finished.
And one Chrysler 400 tired, other was rebuilt, so i'm looking for a rebuilt 400 to replace said.

But in due time, i'm already finding out this is an expensive hobby, Wow; everything is so expensive :shock: , parts wise.

Thank's again

rebuild 400

Post by TADTOOMUCH »

You should look into rebuilding the head and exhaust on the tired 400. The block is probably ok and just needs new rings on cylinders and then if you rebuild the head and have it machined and new manifolds or whatever a good marine mechanic recommends then you won't have to pull the engine and do all the other stuff required once you pull the engine like re-align shaft etc..

Just a thought. Those blocks are pretty indestructable.

Yes it is expensive but with your good building skills you should have no problem with hardly any task. Just need to get up to speed on the marine required stuff. Just make sure that you only use marine rated devices in the engine compartment or anything that is related to combustion, exhaust, or fuel. Everything else on the boat it pretty standard. Wiring is probably the only other area to make sure you only use marine wire (stranded copper) not home wire (solid)

Have fun. It's a great investment in relaxation and learning. Fun for the whole family but always pay a little extra for safety.

I was told 2 things shortly AFTER I bought my first boat, the first is boat stands for Break Out Another Thousand, the second is a boat is not an investment. On the bright side, its slightly cheaper than marriage and the boat doesn't whine as much. 8)

Hey ProwlersFish;
Hey the interior in the Flush 42' is the same as mine, well now that sounds like a Homer Simpson there / Duh !

I guess they all would be pretty much the same layout, except i did notice the 42' Trojan Motor Yacht's for 1972 was much more upgraded,, nicer wood and alittle more refined.

Hey do you have a handle on where i can get new V Birth Pads for this, is there a special place you know of ?

Also, who sells new appliances or would say replacement ones for Trojan's.
I want to redo the kitchen area, i'm going to cut and put Granite counter tops in and would like to replace the 3 burner stove and sink.

Thank's

Boat fixings

Post by TADTOOMUCH »

A lot of the parts in the galley areas are straight from the RV industry. You should be able to find a fridge that runs on 12V and 120 Volt and also a newer ceramic top stove and oven combo through an RV surplus house. I live close to Indiana where most of those types of places are found because they supply the RV industry which is mostly from the Indiana area. Any local upholsterer can make you new v-berth cusions.
