No drain in 10M anchor locker

Post by S.A.M. »

My '90 midcabin has no application for draining the anchor locker. There is a piece of wood cut to wedge against the hull and secured to the stateroom bulkhead, like a false floor. Underneath that, about a foot down, is where the bulkhead and hull meet at the same level as the bunk frame. At that point it's all matted and glassed.

My other boats have had a drain system. Did this boat miss a step in the assembly process or are all 10M like this?
:?
Anyone know about this?

My 1983 10 meter has a drain in the anchor locker.

It drains to the extreior of the hull, it's a simple hole on the leading edge of the bow crease.

Sometimes it gets blockes with debris and requieres a quick cleanout withthe hose.

Thanks RWS

I laid down and looked over the bow and could'nt see any drain hole. Is it molded into the fiberglass at an angle? If so, it must not be very big.

There is sand below the board, that anchor rode sits on. I guess from years of pulling in sand on the line.

This all came about because I put in a windlass by removing the hatch, routing a 1" piece of starboard to fit over the lip and bolting it down to mount the windlass. After the install, we had 2 days of heavy rain here in Pensacola and the anchor locker flooded to point that water was coming out of the speakers in the stateroom.

It seems that the bow of the boat protrudes out beyond the eave of the roof line perfectly. The waterfall from the rain dumps right on top of the windlass and straight down the rode chute.

I thought we did not have one. I took a look from the inside and found a small hole . I stuck a wire through it and cleaned it out. You might try looking from the inside out. It is a small hole.

A hose and a coat hangar should do the trick!
