Just an FYI. Who knows, there might be a guy in MD. that could use this old girl. This is just a result of my obsessive scouring of the Ebay listings, I have no connection with the listing.

Peter, I built my radar arch in my driveway with a 110volt wirefeed welder and a spool of stainless .024 wire and a bottle of tri-mix gas for the shield. It was easy and if I can do it anybody can do it. I looked through the Trojans on Yachtworld for the arch I liked best and kept a picture to look at once in a while for reference. I used a couple of dip net poles to do the measurements and angles with a 2 dollar protractor and a tape measure, then drew up some plans. I got the 1 1/2" tubing from the guy that did my canvas, $100. a piece for two 20ft sticks of stainless and some small scraps for the cross tubes, he even did the bends for me for nothing after I did the measurements. I mounted it on the outside of the flybridge to the roof of the salon and put braces on the side of the flybridge to sturdy it up using canvas top mounting hardware. It was easy but time consuming. The guys at the Yacht club didn't believe I built it in my driveway, they thought I had it done professionally. If I knew how to put some pics on here I would show you. You can do this. Welding stainless is like butter because it's so soft. When I get time I'll try to figure out how to get some pics on here, in the meantime think about it. Now that I think about it ,I do have a photobucket account. To post a picture in the forum is simple once you know how. Go to the photobucket site and open your albums. Put the arrow on the picture you want to show. A screen drops down below the picture. Copy the direct link for that picture. Return to this site. In your new post or your reply click the Img button, paste what you copied from the direct link in the photobucket site, and then click the Img button again.

When you preview your post your picture should show up.

The arch looks great. It shows that your planning paid off, but I don't think that it is a project the average person could handle. You have more skills in metal fabercation then you lead us to believe. You certainly have access to equiptment that most of us don't. Don't be afraid to pat yourself on the back. You are talanted and it shows.
