Nav side lights

Post by wet wonder »

My boat has Perko 915 side lights. The bulb base and wire connectors were corroded beyond repair and neither light works. Replacing them, the whole fixture, is $75 a pair. Replacing the plastic base with the wiring and base is $35 for the pair.

This chrome case and the plastic base are fine. I just need the bulb base and connectors. Does anyone know if I can just replace those and what the part would be?

Thanks,
WW

You can replace the bake-o-lite base with the two contacts and the spring from parts obtained from most any auto parts dealer. I have got them from a NAPA dealer. They cost about $3.50. I don't have the part # readily available but will get it and post it latter.

This also works for the overhead cabin lights light.

Thanks again Prowler. Would you do me a favor and show me which bulb goes with the plastic double contact base. I went thru a bunch of sites but it wasn't clear.
Thanks,

I believe the bulb you are looking for is a #90 or #91. Both will fit, but choose the one that has the correct candle power for your running light

Most marine store have the sokits in stock so you can look at them to make sure they are correct . the number should be on the old bulb . perko has a part number but its not you normaL TYPE number . Jerrys numbers sound right .

I looked on my boat fot the # of the socket replacement parts, but didn't find it. The parts come with either a single or double contacts. Single is used in the cabin over head lights. Double is used with the running lights.
