Trojan transmission question

Post by captain don »

I am restoring a 1977 F-32 and need answers to some pretty basic questions for now. I am missing the port velvet drive transmission. If I start searching for one is it the same as the starboard? I know the port engine is counter clockwise but is the transmission also different. Also to match up, is the gear reduction located on the outside and what do I look for? Thanks, Captain Don

1st - determine what model you have ... Inline (P/N 10-xx-xx) or Down Angle (P/N 20-xx-xx) - (Your's is undoubtedly down-angle.

2nd - What gear ratio:
  • 1:10:1 (direct)
    1.52:1
    1.88:1
    2.10:1
    2.57:1
    2.91:1
3rd - Reverse the direction with hydraulic pump (they must NEVER simply be run in reverse to get counter -rotation). Here's how to setup counter-rotation properly:

That was the MOST painful post in history. Apache PHP forbidden access errors kept locking me out, so I had to split the post up into 4 sections and re=type most of it ... sorry guys ...

I would think they would be inline not down angle with gas engines anyway the trans should be the same both sides in most case you would just have the pumps turned diffrently
